Labyrinth Model Lab

The right membranous labyrinth, built from the IE-Map average of real human MRI scans. Turn structures on and off, recolour them, and rotate the model to see how the semicircular canals, utricle and saccule fit together.

What's what

Unified smooth skin fuses every duct, ampulla, crus, utricle and saccule into one continuous surface, so you can see the membranous labyrinth as a single connected, fluid-filled system.

Fluid envelope (T2 MRI) is the whole fluid-filled inner ear as seen on MRI. Shown faintly, it stands in for the bony labyrinth that houses the membranous one, and it includes the cochlea.
